Cherry Blossom Couture

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم السلام عليكم Asalaam Walaykom everyone, if I told you how much times I sat down and tried to write this post you wouldn't believe me. Between work and well more work I seriously have no free time, I definitely have new found respect for people working in retail. Moving on to what this post is really about, Cherry Blossom Couture. I had the honor of seeing the collection before it was released and I was astonished. The material itself is of high quality and managers to flow perfectly on ones body without being revealing in any way. The inspiring women behind this beautiful collection goes by the name of Fatimah Meyer. Mrs Meyer says she never really grew fond of the western worlds style in clothing but instead always enjoyed designing her own clothes, this way she stays covered and modest. She was always encouraged by people around her to start her own collection, clearly even they could see she had a natural instinct when it came to designing b

How I wear my Dungarees...

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم السلام عليكم Asalaam Walaykom everyone, happy Sunday! It is a beautiful day in Cape Town today so I hope you all are having a blast, send me a snap of what you're doing today.    As you have probably notice from the title I am going to talk about overalls/dungarees. This specific clothing item can be a little tricky to wear because your whole backside is on display, and growing up as a Muslim girl the first thing your mom would check was "but does it cover your bum?" haha if so you can buy it. So clearly you can see why I never really went with the overall 'hype'. However I got one for my birthday which I completely fell in love with and realized wait, the aim of this blog is to show my sisters of Islam how to take these westernized tools and turn it into your own. Getting to my point, it is actually really simple, you just need a really over sized overalls/dungaree, so it sits on you like a boyfriend jeans and a long shirt

Two ways to wear bandana's

Image
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم السلام عليكم Asalaam Walaykom everyone, I hope you all are doing well. This post is all about bandana's. I've been looking for them for a while and couldn't really seem to find any, once I did I've been incorporating them in my wardrobe for the past few weeks. It's really great to use as that pop of colour in your Saturday denims, or even that pop of pattern in your monochrome work attire. As you scroll down you will notice this post is made up of two outfits. The first outfit I wore to work, since the whole outfit is basically plain I decided to wrap my bandana around my turban, in conclusion it kept my scarf in place whole day and added a cool pattern. The second outfit got to watch Hotel Transylvania 2 in the cinemas (definitely recommend it). haha I absolutely love the simplicity of this look. Skinny jeans, white sneakers and a linen dress is all that this outfit is made up of and yet the bandana around my neck adds so much

What I wear to work : Studded Jeans

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم السلام عليكم Hello everyone, can I just say, you know your friend accepts your weird blogger ways when your tea and scones arrive at the table and she looks at you in confusion, asking  "Are you not going to take a picture of this?". haha  I am going to get straight into this outfit. If you do not know by now my dress code is black and white, so I decided to go slightly casual with a dark denim, black studded jeans. A black lace, mini skirt to add length to my half white, half black top. Then since it was chilly I decided to grab my black leather jacket, which I"m obsessed with, by the way. Eid ul-Adha

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم السلام عليكم Happy Saturday everyone! I don't think anyone expected this rain we're having today. I hope you all have a nice relaxing weekend, I know that's all I want. I hope you all had a blessed Eid filled with love and joy. May all of our loved ones return safely from their sacred journeys Insha'Allah. A lot of people has been asking me about my outfit, yes I did design it myself and my grandmother (aka 'super granny', haha) made it for me. The inspiration for this look came purely from the material itself, once I got the pants right the rest of the outfit just fell into place. So very 60's inspired, tight sleeves and pants that both flare out at the bottom. Since the material is already so busy I decided to go with little small, petite jewelry and a plain scarf and shoes.  Instagram :@southernhijaabian Snapchat: @laaiqah_isaacs Twitter : @southernhijaabi Until next time, Laaiqah
