Ramadan Kareem...

Image
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم   السلام عليكم Subhan'Allah! Allah has granted us another opportunity to witness this glorious month of Ramadan. We should all feel so honored and blessed. Let us take full advantage of what has been bestowed upon us as muslims. The doors of Jahanam (hell) are closed and the doors of Janaah (heaven) are thrown open.  During the year some of us might have gotten lost along the way. As human beings it is only possible for our Imaan to drop. Alhamdulilah Allah has given us this month as a way of calling us back to Him! Subhan'Allah! Allah wants us to turn to Him, to ask for His mercy, to fully surrender ourselves to the one true Creator. Alhamdulilah we always try to be the best muslims we can be. So in this month I feel like we need to do more. More as in if I already perform my five daily prays then Insha'Allah this month I will make extra sunnah salaahs. Maybe I haven't been to steadfast in my prays, so Insha'Allah I will plan to

Theee Polo-neck is your friend...

Image
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم   السلام عليكم The polo-neck. Okay I know this is not the most famous item in your wardrobe, in fact most of us do not really bother buying them. Personally I wasn't too fond of them either. Now it is one of the best things to have. Why is that?.. Firstly look at it! So warm and comfy, all you need to do is throw it on and tadaaa, no extra scarves, nothing.  Secondly if you have not already notice, it was simply meant to be worn with a turban. Absolutely no worrying about what scarf you need to throw around your neck, non of, what colour should it  be? or what kind of patterns should be on it.  This specific polo-neck I am wearing is really wide and floppy on top. Which is a good thing, because I pinned it to the bottom of my turban to give me some extra coverage. In other words no matter how much I move and turn my neck stays covered. It's foolproof baby! haha  A baby pink raincoat is thrown over my polo-neck jersey. Paired with a ba

Hijaabi Solider

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم   السلام عليكم Let me start by saying how much I absolutely adore this jacket! It doesn't have any camouflage, but it has these really cool badges sewed in the front and on the sleeves. It has pockets on the front at the top and bottom plenty of space to store your lip gloss, tissues, phone, money....I think you get my point. Even though this outfit doesn't seem very "girly girl" it sure is. If you look closer you will see that my jeans along with my boots are a bit on the sparkly side of life. My boots have a ton of studs on them and my jeans have these black diamantes.  Under the "wonder jacket" I am wearing a long denim shirt for some extra "coverage". A knitted cream crop-top that gives off this beautiful gold shimmer.  To top it all off  I have a black scarf which has these cute little white bows and rope patterns on it. Overall I do believe this outfit has "a lot" going on, but it was supe

Hijaabi goes..."Gangster"

Image
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم   السلام عليكم Who said hijaabi's cannot go gangster? The baggy pants and shirt is the perfect way to style yourself as a Muslimah. It is not too revealing and just rather effortless. So if you look at it, this outfit is quite convenient. This specific look is inspired by Chris Brown from one of his music videos.  I am wearing a black tracksuit pants, paired with a long white tank top, black biker jacket with some cool studded detail to add some extra   edge. Perfect for the cold weather we having. A big chunky gold necklace to 'girl-a-fy' it a bit and not forgetting the signature check shirt. Once again proving that any hijaabi can rock any look. We all have our days were you just don't feel for the "girly-girl" look and just want to let loose and bring your inner "gangster" out.                Tip: If your tracksuit pants is bootleg like mine, cuff it by tucking the bottom of your pants into your sock

Winter Wonderland...

Image
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم   السلام عليكم Winter my absolute favorite time of the year. All I can say is layers, layers and more layers!  If it is done correctly you can wear quite a few different colours and patterns and I'm all about mixing and matching. Here I am wearing a loose, flowy pants with a knitted crop top, a denim shirt, black fleece coat with amazing leather sleeves and topping it off with a pair of boots. Warm and cosy, yet fun and stylish, simply ready to take on the chilly Cape Town day ahead. Coat: Mr Price Denim Shirt: Mr Price Pants: Msquared Boots: Foschini

For the love of Denim...

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم   السلام عليكم This is how I rock my turban. Still keeping with the collar trend with my big chunky neck piece. All I did was pop the collar and my neck is covered. The oversized jersey is  simply one of my favorite pieces, so big and comfy, yet its long enough to wear with a jeans. I keep my jeans on the bang side just to be safe.Since the overall outfit is in the same colour pallet I decided to go with a bright, fun multicoloured scarf. Go out there and show off your denim collection in a whole new way!  Jersey: Cotton on Jeans: Mr Price Shirt: Mr Price Bag: Louis Vuitton

Who is this "southern hijaabian?"

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم   السلام عليكم Just another muslim teenage girl living in Cape Town, South Africa. I go by the name of Laaiqah Isaacs. This being my first post I want to try and keep it short and simple. Let me begin by saying I honestly believe hijaab is a way of life and by that I mean the way of a muslimah. We cover up because it is our duty and to please the all mighty. Not only is it a covering of the hair and body but its the way we speak, our frame of mind, not wanting to do it for anyone but yourself. In todays day and age it might not be that easy to dress "properly" while trying to keep up with the lastest fashion trends. We don't want to look plain and boring because at the end of the day we all have our own unique style and what to stand out of the crowd, be noticed.   Now tell me who said you can't be covered up and still look absolutely stunning?! I don't believe I am a fashion expert in anyway. All I know is that I will try
