Meeting other bloggers and Supporting Palestine

Fatima Peck, Me, Nurunisa Peck

On the 24 January 2015 a wonderful group of people decided to put together a fashion show in order to raise funds for our brothers and sisters in Palestine in need of our help. Fatima and Nurunisa Peck are the founders of Sisters in Hijab and now creators of Sisters in Support. These two young ladies have seriously been making a splash in our Muslim community. Their website consists of selling beautiful scarves to exciting jewelry and elegant headbands( hand made by Aashiqah Gire). They even have a little section where they sell little badges and stickers in support of Palestine. As some of you might know I keep Palestine close to my heart, so when Fatima contacted me telling me about this event there was no way I could not be there.

The fashion show was held in the Old Mutual building in Pinelands. As I made my way there I was rather nervous yet excited. I was told that I was going to have the opportunity to meet other bloggers, which being a 'newbee', I've never done before. I was escorted by the lovely Nurunisa Peck to my seat, which by the way had my name on (I know! how cool is that haha) Throughout the event I got to meet Faziela Harris Davids (mommify.me), Fatima Khan Wise(memrsme), Saara Jappie Adams (minimal exposure), Aashiqah Gire (Aashiqah G Collections) and television host and radio presenter Aashia Hendricks. An absolute wonderful group of people. They were all so welcoming and kind which made me feel right at home. I got some good advice and tips and they didn't even mind my slight fan girling.

The fashion show consisted of seven talented Islamic designers. Since I do not want to make this post super long I decided to make a separate post on some of my favorite looks which will be up some time this week Insha'Allah.

As for my outfit, being a Palestine event the colours black, white, green and red were definitely essentials. I decided to wear a white dress with a high slit on the side. To cover up I slipped under a black pencil skirt and a black tights. I wrapped a belt around my wait so I could expose my skirt more. Threw over my Palestine scarf and a green chiffon scarf to cover my neck. Lastly a white turban and a pair of nude heels.
